Some information about the beginners’ classes below.

Class introduction and structure:
The class starting in Denmark is for beginners. And for now, the class is only for group lessons (maximum 4 students per class).
There will be private lessons in the future for people who are interested in more detailed instructions and learning about traditional customs in depth.
For the beginners’ classes, there will be small theoretical lessons for basic understanding, and we will focus on learning four dances.
At the end of the beginner level, once you finish learning all four dances, it will be possible to take a test to proceed to the next level.
General information:
Place:
Mainly at Ogawaryu dance studio, in Østerbro, København.
Monthly fee:
Adults below 30 years old: 500 kr. Adults 30 or older: 625 kr.
The discrepancy is due to the new Danish VAT (moms) rules that only apply to people above 30. If you’re over 30 years old, 500 kr + VAT 125 kr = 625 kr/month.
Tuition is arranged monthly, and bank transfer and cash are available.
Lessons:
90 min twice a month (including preparation: you can change your clothes at the studio).
Preparation:
For beginners – comfortable clothing with thick socks or indoor smooth, non-rubber sole shoes
(e.g. ‘kinasko’ or similar)
In the future, if you wish to continue in our classes, you will need: a pair of white tabi-sox, a yukata, an obi for the yukata, 2~3 strings/koshihimo, yukata innerwear, 2 dancing fans, and a dancing parasol.

School system:
Traditional Japanese art schools are structured in a hierarchical organization. It consists of an Oiemoto-grandmaster, masters, and students of different levels.
It means that we place great importance on paying respect not only to our teachers but also to fellow students and related people as well as to our surroundings.
We also value and cultivate good manners in a traditional Japanese sense.
However, here in the classes in Denmark, you are not expected to be as formal as we would be in Japan. We will learn together with mutual respect, and I hope we all enjoy dancing together.
